All Smiles

Here in the "land of smiles" as Thailand likes to bill itself, it's true that the locals seem to smile often. In addition to expressing pure bliss, the smile is used as a sort of defense mechanism and in tense and awkward social situations. After all, Thais avoid "losing face" at all costs. Even action figures in Thai taxis sometimes grin from ear to ear.
